MANILA, Philippines – Nanawagan si Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla sa National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) na makipagtulungan sa mga awtoridad upang matukoy ang sanhi ng sunog na sumiklab sa opisina ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) sa Quezon City nitong Miyerkules, Oktubre 22.
“The Ombudsman is aware of the ongoing fire incident at the DPWH office in Quezon City. The Ombudsman has directed the immediate coordination with the NBI and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to determine the cause of the fire to establish whether arson or any deliberate act was committed,” ayon kay Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano.
Ang insidente ay naganap sa kalagitnaan ng nagpapatuloy na imbestigasyon sa flood control projects ng DPWH.
Isang araw lamang bago nito, sinabi ni Ombudsman Remulla na ang mga akusado sa mga kaso ng ghost at substandard flood control projects ay obligadong ibalik ang buong halaga ng kanilang ninakaw sa pondo ng bayan kung nais nilang pumasok sa plea bargain sa pamahalaan, o mas magaan na parusa.
“Pwede mag plea-bargain basta may full restitution,” ani Remulla. RNT/JGC
