MANILA, Philippines- Asahan na ng mga customer ng Manila Electric Company (Meralco) ang pagtapyas ng power distributor sa household rate ngayong buwan.
“Indications show a possible decrease in the generation charge in our customers’ bills this January,” pahayag ni Meralco spokesperson at head of corporate communications Joe Zaldarriaga.
“We expect this month’s lower generation charge to lead to an overall rate reduction in this month’s electricity rates,” dagdag ni Zaldarriaga.
Kasunod ang inaasahang electricity rate reduction ng P0.1048 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) power rate hike na ipinatupad noong December ng nakaraang taon, na nagdala sa overall rate ng Meralco para sa typical household sa P11.9617 per kWh mula P11.8569 per kWh ng nakalipas na buwan.
Sinabi ng Meralco official na ang inaasahang power rate decrease ay buhat ng mas mababang Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) prices.
Ang pagbaba sa WESM costs ay “due to improved supply situation in the Luzon grid as both average peak demand and average capacity on outage went down in the December supply month,” paliwanag ni Zaldarriaga. RNT/SA
