MANILA, Philippines – Naghain ng leave of absence si Police Gen. Nicolas Torre III para hintayin ang mga susunod pang development na maaaring lumabas sa pagkakatanggal sa kanya bilang hepe ng Philippine National Police (PNP).
Sa isang ambush interview nitong Miyerkules, tinanong si Torre tungkol sa mga pahayag ni Senador Panfilo “Ping” Lacson na ang pagpapatalsik sa kanya ay dahil sa paglampas sa awtoridad ng isang PNP chief.
Bilang tugon, sinabi ni Torre na tutugunan na lang niya ang mga ganitong komento sa isang pahayag na ilalabas niya sa hinaharap. Nang tanungin kung kailan niya ito ilalabas, sinabi ni Torre na hindi siya makapagbigay ng tiyak na petsa dahil nag-leave of absence siya.
“I always respect the opinion of everybody, especially from a former chief of PNP. I’ll take note of it and give my reaction. Now, whether I agree or not, I’ll just include it in the statement, you can deduce it from the statement that I will make,” ani Torre.
“I can’t really give a timeline, I took a leave, which I will do I think for the second time in my career […] I’m mulling about it, because of course (this is) for approval of the chief PNP and I’m planning to use the maximum leave authorized, for my vacation leave, my service leave […] Obviously, I need the time. I need the time off also to answer reporters,” dagdag niya.
Nang tanungin kung nadismaya siya sa pagkakatanggal sa kanya sa puwesto o kung naniniwala siyang hindi patas, sinabi ni Torre na sanay na siya dahil hindi ito ang unang pagkakataon na na-relieve siya sa kanyang puwesto.
“I’ve been an officer for more than 30 years. This is not the first time that this has happened in my career, okay? It happened. Time and again I come and go and you know, I just came back, bounced back and did something again and be credited for it. I believe in myself, that’s it,” aniya. RNT/MND
