MANILA, Philippines – Naitala sa ilang bahagi ng Bohol at tatlo iba pang lugar ang toxic red tide, ayon sa Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) nitong Biyernes, Hulyo 12.
Sa shellfish bulletin ng ahensya, nagpositibo sa paralytic shellfish poison o toxic red tide na higit sa regulatory limit ang mga lamang-dagat mula sa coastal waters ng Dauis at Tagbilaran City sa Bohol; Dumanquillas Bay sa Zamboanga del Sur; coastal waters ng San Benito sa Surigao del Norte; at Honda Bay sa Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
Nagbabala ang BFAR sa publiko sa pagharvest, pagbebenta, pagbili at pagkain ng mga shellfish na nakuha mula sa mga nabanggit na lugar.
“All types of shellfish and Acetes sp. or alamang gathered from the areas shown above are NOT SAFE for human consumption,” ayon sa BFAR.
Samantala, ang mga “fish, squids, shrimps, and crabs are SAFE for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly, and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking,” dagdag pa. RNT/JGC
