MANILA, philippines – Nagbigay ang Estados Unidos ng $1 milyon para suportahan ang patuloy na operasyon ng pamahalaan ng Pilipinas sa pagtulong sa kalamidad sa mga komunidad na tinamaan ng Bagyong Tino at ng mga kamakailang malalakas na lindol sa Southern Philippines.
Sinabi ng Washington na magpapadala ito ng emergency shelter, mga serbisyo sa logistik, at ligtas na tubig at sanitasyon sa mga lugar na pinakamahirap na tinamaan ng Tino (Kalmaegi), na marami sa mga ito ay bumabawi pa rin mula sa sunud-sunod na mga bagyo at ang magnitude 6.9 na lindol sa Cebu noong Setyembre 30.
“The United States and the Philippines are not only ironclad allies—we are friends and partners bound by a shared history, common values, and a steadfast commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific. As millions of Filipinos face the challenges left by these disasters, including the loss of family and loved ones, our rapid response stands as a testament to the depth and resilience of our enduring ties, especially in times of crisis,” ayon sa US State Department.
“To this end, the United States will provide $1 million in immediate life-saving assistance,” dagdag nito.
Sa buong Southern Philippines, iniwan ni Tino ang hindi bababa sa 188 katao ang patay at 135 ang nawawala, sinabi ng Office of Civil Defense.
Halos kalahating milyon ang nawalan ng tirahan at inilikas sa mga silungan.
Sa Cebu, 139 katao ang namatay, karamihan ay dahil sa flash flood.
