MANILA, Philippines – UMABOT na sa sa P16.090 trillion ang kabuuang ‘outstanding debt’ ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas “as of end-November sa P16.090 trillion, sinasabing tumaas ng 10% noong 2023.
Makikita sa data na ipinalabas ng Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) na ang outstanding debt ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas ay umabot na sa P16.090 trillion “as of end-November 2024,” sumasalamin ito sa 10.9% na pagtaas mula sa P14.508 trillion “as of end-November 2023.”
Ito rin ay 0.4% na mas mataas kaysa sa P16.020 “as of end October 2024.
“The debt portfolio increased… due to net financing and the impact of local currency depreciation on the valuation of foreign-currency-denominated debt,” ang nakasaad sa kalatas ng BTr.
Nagtapos ang piso noong Nobyembre sa P58.602:$1, mas mahina kaysa sa P58.198:$1 “as of end-October 2024.”
“Domestic debt stood at P10.921 trillion, marking a 9.0% increase from P10.024 trillion in November 2023. This was attributed to the P30.67-billion net issuance of domestic securities, and the P1.15-billion impact of the peso depreciation on US dollar-denominated debt,” ayon sa BTr.
Naitala naman ang external debt sa P5.169 trillion, tumaas ng 15.3% mula P4.484 trillion noong nakaraang taon, at 0.8% na mas mataas kaysa sa P5.130 trillion “as of end-October.”
“The significant depreciation of the peso led to a P35.61-billion escalation in the local valuation of US dollar-denominated debt while net foreign loan availments added P8.33 billion,” ayon sa BTr.
“Meanwhile, favorable third-currency movements relative to the US dollar reduced external debt by P5.06 billion,” sinabi pa rin nito.
Ang Obligations guaranteed ng national government ay umabot na sa P422.04 billion, tumaas ng 2.5% mula sa nakalipas na buwan.
Ito’y matapos na dumating ang bagong domestic guarantees na umabot na sa P8.95 billion, at P1.85-billion sa upward adjustments dahil sa ‘unfavorable foreign currency movements.’
Ito’y bahagyang offset ng P0.52-billion repayment ng external guarantees. Kris Jose
