IN an operation that could easily be mistaken for a plot from a crime thriller, the Valenzuela City Police Station recently uncovered a complex carnapping and insurance fraud scheme involving two Chinese men.

This real-life case stands as a testament to the sharp investigative work, commitment and teamwork of local law enforcement, as well as their ability to uncover deep-rooted deceit.

It all began with a report from the Chinese businessman claiming his Toyota Fortuner was stolen in Valenzuela City.

What appeared to be a routine car theft quickly escalated as VCPS cops, led by Valenzuela police chief PCol. Joseph Talento, launched an intensive investigation.

Their work revealed that the so-called “carnapping” was a staged event orchestrated by the Chinese businessman in collaboration with another Chinese.

The two transferred license plates from a wrecked vehicle onto a different Fortuner, falsely reporting it as the stolen one to claim insurance.

National Capital Region Police Office Director PMGen Anthony Aberin and Northern Police District Director PBGen Jerry Protacio both praised the meticulous planning and execution of the operation.

Aberin commended the leadership of Protacio, highlighting the seamless coordination between the Valenzuela City Police and NPD operatives.

“This case is a prime example of how effective collaboration and dedication to duty can result in bringing criminals to justice,” Aberin stated.

Protacio echoed Aberin’s praise, recognizing the outstanding efforts of Valenzuela’s police team under Talento’s leadership.

Thanks to this thorough investigation, the suspects were arrested and criminal complaints for perjury, insurance fraud, and illegal transfer of license plates were filed.

The case serves as a reminder that when police forces work together with purpose and persistence, even the most well-hidden criminal schemes can be uncovered.

The Valenzuela City Police have proven that justice isn’t just a concept — it’s a commitment carried out with skill and diligence.
