MANILA, Philippines – Siniguro ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) nitong Biyernes, Oktubre 24 na walang inaasahang pagtataas sa presyo ng mga basic necessity hanggang sa pagtatapos ng 2025.
Ito ang kinumpirma ni Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque.
Sa ambush interview, sinabi ni Roque na “there will be no price increase in basic necessities and prime commodities until the end of the year.”
Nang tanungin naman ang DTI kung humiling ito sa mga manufacturer na huwag munang magtaas ng presyo, sinabi ni Roque na: “Yes, all cooperate… no issues at all.”
Sa ilalim ng Republic Act 10623 o Price Act, tinukoy ang basic necessities bilang “goods vital to the needs of consumers for their sustenance and existence,” habang ang prime commodities ay “goods not considered as basic necessities but are essential to consumers.”
Kabilang sa basic necessities ay ang tinapay, canned fish, iba pang marine products, potable bottled water, processed milk, instant noodles, coffee, salt, laundry soap at detergents, at mga kandila.
Ayon naman sa DTI, kabilang sa prime commodities ay ang harina, canned pork at beef, vinegar, soy sauce, fish sauce (patis), bath soap, cement, batteries, electrical supplies, at mga bumbilya. RNT/JGC
