MANILA, Philippines – Planong magtayo ang isang Korean company ng 100-megawatt solar power farm sa Sogod, Cebu, isang multi-bilyong pisong investment para tugunan ang energy shortages sa bansa at maabot ang commitments sa ilalim ng National Renewable Energy Program 2020-2040.
Ang SelTech Co. Ltd, na nakabase sa Cheongju City, South Korea ay naglaan ng $100 million o P5.7 billion para itayo ang 100-megawatt “agrivoltaics” solar farm sa Sogod, isang second-class municipality.
Pumirma ng Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) ang mga opisyal ng SelTech sa pangunguna ni Managing Director Bong Ho Cho na bumisita sa Sogod noong Nobyembre 29, kasama si Mayor Lisa Marie Durano-Streegan na nagbibigay-daan sa joint identification ng project site, pagkumpleto ng institutional procedures, at logistical support sa iba’t ibang paraan.
“In order to implement the above-mentioned project, the parties shall create a Technical Working Group to plan and establish relevant trainings, testing and evaluating cooperative activities, and conduct other relevant activities jointly decided,” saad sa bahagi ng MOU.
Ang SelTech ay kasalukuyang may pinatatakbong mga solar power plant sa South Korea at planong palawakin ang operasyon nito sa buong mundo. RNT/JGC
