MANILA, Philippines – Pinatawan ng six-month preventive suspension ang 12 opisyal ng gobyerno dahil sa alegadong anomalya sa P289-milyong flood control project sa Naujan, Oriental Mindoro, ayon sa Office of the Ombudsman.

Ayon kay Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano, inisyu ni Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla ang suspensiyon noong Oktubre 23 laban sa mga opisyal ng DPWH-Mimaropa at Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) dahil sa diumano’y paglabag sa Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials.

Kabilang sa mga suspendido sina:

-Gerald Pacanan, DPWH regional director
-Gene Ryan Altea, DPWH assistant regional director
-Ruben D.S. Santos, DPWH assistant regional director
-Montrexis Tamayo, DPWH OIC-chief, Planning and Design Division
-Dominic Serrano, DPWH construction division chief and Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) chairperson
-Dennis Abagon, DPWH OIC-chief, Quality Assurance and Hydrology Division, BAC regular member
-Juliet Calvo, DPWH Maintenance Division Chief
-Lerma Cayco, DPWH accountant IV
-Felisardo Casuno, DPWH project engineer III
-Grace Lopez, BAC member
-Frierich Karl Camero, Legal Division Chief and
-Timojen Sacar, materials engineer

“This [preventive suspension] stemmed from the administrative case that was instituted simultaneously with the criminal charge,” ani Clavano.

Sa kabila nito, siyam na opisyal ang nag-plead ng not guilty sa kasong malversation kaugnay ng substandard na proyekto at na-arraign sa Sandiganbayan 6th Division. Ayon sa kanilang mga abogado, ang proyekto ay maayos at nagagamit. Santi Celario
