MANILA, Philippines – Nagpahayag ng suporta ang 14 senador kay Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri sa gitna ng patuloy na usap-usapang tangkang kudeta laban sa liderato ng Senador.
Sinabi ng mga source ng Senado na ang ideya ng pagsulat ng “Statement of Support for the Leadership of Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri” noong nakaraang linggo ay dahil sa mga tsismis na ang “mga tagalabas” ay nanliligaw pa rin sa isang grupo ng mga senador na paalisin si Zubiri.
Sinimulan ng mga senador na lagdaan ang pahayag ng suporta noong Biyernes, ayon sa mga mapagkukunan.

Pinirmahan din ni Zubiri ang pahayag ng suporta.
“We stand firm behind the leadership of Senate President Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri under whose guiding hand the Senate has maintained its digniy and independence as one of our nation’s greatest bulwarks of democracy,” nakasaad sa pahayag.
“Our confidence in the Senate President has only grown stronger in the wake of his decisive handling. Of the divisive issue of the People’s Initiative. Throughout the complex challenges he has had to navigate, Senate President Zubiri has remained ever the statesman-steadfast in defending the Constitution, but circumspect in ensuring. That the stability of the nation and its elected government are never compromised,” saad pa rito.
Ang sinasabing coup plot laban kay Zubiri, ayon sa mga source ng Senado, ay nag-ugat sa kawalang-kasiyahan ng ilang senador sa paraan ng pamumuno ni Zubiri sa kamara.
Ito ay pinalala ng tensyon na hatid ng isyu ng People’s Initiative sa Senado at Kapulungan ng mga Kinatawan.
