MANILA, Philippines – Inanunsyo ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) nitong Linggo, Disyembre 29 na nakumpleto na nito ang long delayed Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP) kung saan 85.6 percent ng lahat ng public utility vehicles sa bansa ang lumahok na sa programa.
Anila, sa 191,730 PUVs sa bansa, 164,137 units ang lumahok na sa transport cooperatives o korporasyon.
Mas mataas ito kumpara sa 83.88 percent consolidation rate na iniulat ng Department of Transportation, kasunod ng April 30 final consolidation deadline na ipinataw ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“This is considered a milestone, not just for the LTFRB, but for the entire government. It took seven years to finally reach this far in terms of the aspiration to modernize the country’s public transport,” ayon kay LTFRB Chair Teofilo Guadiz III.
Kamakailan ay sinabi ni Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista na matagumpay na maipatutupad ng pamahalaan ang PTMP kung mayroon nang 85 percent consolidation rate. RNT/JGC
