MANILA, Philippines- Apat na katao ang sugatan matapos na bombahin ng tubig ng dalawang China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels ang barko ng Pilipinas na nasa resupply mission sa BRP Sierra Madre sa Ayungin Shoal.
“The use of water cannons by the CCG vessels shattered the wind shield of Unaizah May 4, causing minor injuries to at least four personnel on board,” ang nakasaad sa kalatas ng National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS), araw ng Martes.
Ang mga sugatang Filipino personnel ay ginamot ng crew ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessel BRP Sindangan.
Ayon sa NTF-WPS, dahil sa “unprovoked acts of coercion and dangerous maneuvers” ng Tsina laban sa Philippine vessels ay nalagay sa panganib ang buhay ng mga Filipino na sakay nito at naging dahilan ng pagkasugat ng mga ito.
“The systematic and consistent manner in which the People’s Republic of China carries out these illegal and irresponsible actions puts into question the sincerity of its calls for peaceful dialogue and lessening of tensions,” ayon sa task force.
Iniulat ng NTF-WPS na ang CCG vessel 21555 ay gumawa ng mapanganib na ‘blocking maneuvers’ laban sa BRP Sindangan na nauwi sa isang maliit na banggaan.
Ang insidente ay naitala dakong alas-6:32 ng umaga.
“The BRP Sindangan sustained superficial structural damage,” ayon sa task force.
“At 8:15 a.m., another CCG vessel “caused a minor collision” with Unaizah May 4 “due to its dangerous blocking maneuvers,” dagdag ng task force.
Sa ulat, magkasabay na binomba ng tubig ng CCG vessels 21555 at 21551 ang Unaizah May 4.
Dahil sa pinsala sa vessel at pagkasugat ng mga crew, bumalik ang Unaizah May 4 sa mainland Palawan sa ilalim ng pag-escort ng BRP Sindangan.
Alas- 9:30 ng umaga, matagumpay na nakadaong ang Unaizah May 1 sa BRP Sierra Madre at nagsimula sa resupply mission nito. Nakumpleto naman ang misyon at umalis sa BRP Sierra Madre ng alas-10:45 ng umaga.
“The Philippines, for its part, continues to act peacefully and responsibly, consistent with international law, particularly UNCLOS and the legally binding 2016 Arbitral Award. Peace and stability cannot be achieved without due regard for the legitimate, well-established, and legally settled rights of others,” ayon sa NTF-WPS.
“The Philippines will not be deterred from exercising our legal rights over our maritime zones, including Ayungin Shoal which forms part of our Exclusive Economic Zone and continental shelf. We demand that China demonstrate that it is a responsible and trustworthy member of the international community,” dagdag na wika nito. Kris Jose
