MANILA, Philippines- Pasok sa listahan ng Times Higher Education (THE) ang 56 higher education institutions (HEIs) sa Pilipinas sa 2024 Impact Rankings (IR) nito, na “identifies and celebrates universities that excel across multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
“Ateneo de Manila University maintains its place in the 201-300 bracket, leading the Philippine HEIs in the THE IR… Notably, Ifugao State University emerged as a strong contender in its first-ever participation to the THE IR, securing the second spot as the best performing Philippine HEI tying with the University of the Philippines and De La Salle University,” pahayag ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
Sinabi ni CHED Secretary Popoy De Vera na patunay ang ranking na ang Philippine HEIs “are consciously benchmarking and internationalizing their programs… in the context of the global Social Development Goals.”
“We are witnessing a paradigm shift where universities are actively integrating social development goals into their core mission,” wika ng opisyal.
Binanggit ng CHED na halos dumoble ang bilang ng Philippine HEIs na napasama sa listahan ngayong taon kumpara noong 2023, “manifesting a continuous increase for six years in a row.”
“From one HEI evaluated in 2019, four in 2020 and 2021, 15 in 2022, 29 last year to 56 institutions subjected themselves to THE evaluation in 2024. This is a significant increase of 93 percent from last year,” anito.
“Not only do these institutions stand out in individual areas but they also demonstrate comprehensive excellence in contributing to global sustainable development. By excelling in a variety of SDGs, these universities showcase their commitment to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges, including environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth and partnerships,” ayon sa THE sa ulat nito.
