MANILA, Philippines – Posibleng umabot sa “dangerous level” ng heat index ang siyam na lugar sa bansa ngayong Lunes, Abril 8.
Ipinaliwanag ng PAGASA na ang heat index na mula 42 degrees Celsius hanggang 51 degrees Celsius ay maikokonsiderang nasa “danger” category.
Inaasahan na aabot sa 46 degrees Celsius ang heat index sa Daet, Camarines Norte, habang sa Cotabato City naman ay aabot ng hanggang 44 degrees Celsius. Sa Aparri, Cagayan ay aabot sa 43 degrees Celsius ang heat index ngayong Lunes.
Samantala, inaasahan ang 42-degrees Celsius na heat index sa Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Aborlan, Palawan; CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur; at Roxas City, Capiz.
Tinukoy ng PAGASA ang heat index bilang “a human discomfort index that gives the apparent temperature on what humans perceive or feel as the temperature (from the surroundings) affecting the body.” RNT/JGC
