MANILA, Philippines – Inaresto ang second-in-command ng Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee (EVRPC) sa joint inter-agency operation ng 8th Infantry Division at Philippine National Police sa Consolacion, Cebu nitong Martes, Abril 9.
Pinangunahan ni Romulo Micabalo ang Regional Operations Command (ROC) at pinuno ng Regional Operations Division (ROD) ng EVRPC.
Si Micabalo ay may standing warrants of arrest para sa two counts ng kidnapping with serious illegal detention at robbery with violence against or intimidation of a person na inisyu ng Branch 7 ng Regional Trial Court sa Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur.
Siya ay dating miyembro ng Regional Sentro de Gravidad-Compaq ng North Central Mindanao Regional Party Committee (NCMRC) na nag-ooperate sa Northern Mindanao.
Anak ito ni Dionisio Micabalo, alyas Muling, na top lider ng NCMRC na napatay sa engkwentro ng mga sundalo sa Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental noong Hulyo 26, 2023.
Ayon sa report, pinangunahan ni Ned ang panununog sa Jipapad-Las Navas road construction equipment sa Barangay Quirino at Barangay San Francisco, Las Navas, Northern Samar na nagkakahalaga ng P32 million noong Hulyo 29, 2021.
Siya rin ang mastermind sa pananambang sa isang sundalo at tatlong militiamen, na ikinasugat din ng anim iba pa na sa detachment ng 52nd Infantry Brigade sa Barangay 4, Jipapad, Eastern Samar noong Hulyo 29, 2021.
Sangkot din ito sa pag-atake sa Community Support Program Team na nagsisiguro sa konstruksyon ng isang school building sa Barangay Dorillo, sa Jipapad, noong Oktubre 7, 2022. Ikinasugat ito ng 10-taong gulang na batang lalaki.
Pinuri naman ni Major Gen. Camilo Ligayo, commander ng 8th ID, ang tagumpay ng inter-agency operations.
