MANILA, Philippines – Binatikos ni Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea Commodore Jay Tarriela ang mga politiko na tahimik sa isyu ng West Philippine Sea pero maingay sa pagtatanggol sa puganteng si Apollo Quiboloy.
Ang pahayag na ito ni Tarriela ay kasunod ng pambabatikos ni Vice President Sara Duterte at ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa pulisya sa paggamit umano ng “excessive” force sa paglusob sa mga ari-arian ni Quiboloy.
“They never had any comments when the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Coast Guard were subjected to inhumane and barbaric harassment while carrying out a medical evacuation in Ayungin Shoal,” sinabi ni Tarriela sa isang post sa X.
Ang tinutukoy ni Tarriela ay ang May 19 resupply mission kung saan inagaw ng mga tauhan na sakay ng inflatable boats ng China Coast Guard (CCG) ang mga suplay na para sana sa mga tropa sa BRP Sierra Madre sa isang airdrop mission.
“However, when the mansion of the fugitive Pastor Quiboloy was surrounded by the Philippine National Police, they had lengthy statements and even criticized the police’s efforts to arrest him,” ipinunto pa niya.
Nitong Martes lamang ay binatikos ni dating Pangulong Duterte ang tila “overkill” na tugon ng pulisya laban kay Quiboloy.
Si Quiboloy ay nagtatago ngayon dahil sa kabi-kabilang kaso ng pang-aabuso. Si Duterte naman ay inakusahan ng crime against humanity sa International Criminal Court dahil sa madugong drug war na kumitil sa buhay ng libo-libong sibilyan.
“I find such [a] reaction paradoxical, and it makes one question where their loyalty and interests really lie,” ani Tarriela. RNT/JGC
