MANILA, Philippines – Sa kanyang huling pagdalo sa State of the Nation Address (SONA) nitong Hulyo 22, 2024, nakasuot si Senador Grace Poe ng isang Filipino terno na kumakatawan sa kanyang optimism na magkakaroon ng mabuting wakas ang 12 taong paninilbihan bilang mambabatas.
Dadalo si Poe sa kanyang huling SONA na suot ang isang pirasong puting silk crepe terno na idinesenyo Filipino fashion master Paul Cabral.
Naglalaman ng kanyang damit ng maliit na semi-bias skirt na tila umaagos at dalawang beadworks ng ginto at pilak na pinalilibutan ng dahon.
Sa pagbubukas ng sesyon nitong umaga ng Lunes, isinuot ni Poe ang isa pang gawang Cabral na isang simpleng silk crepe dress na hinati sa beywang ng pinagsamang telang pinya na pinamumugaran ng iba’t-ibang uri ng sinaunang laso.
“Over the past 12 years, we have seen the resilience, goodness and hope of the Filipinos. We are grateful to have been given the opportunity to serve,” ayon kay Poe, na magtatapos ng termino sa June 2025.
“Palaging may tungkulin na dapat gampanan,” aniya.
Tulad ng nakararaming Filipino, hinihintay din ni Poe ang SONA ng Pangulo at mayroon siyang sariling listahan ng isyu.
Umaasa si Poe na magkakaroon ng matitibay na pagkilos ang Pangulo sa pagtugon sa lumolobong presyo ng pangunahing bilihin na humahagupit sa bawat pamilyang Filipino, partikular ang mahihirap. Dapat sapat ang Kadiwa stores o katulad na inisyatiba para sa lahat ng komunidad.
Aniya: “True to their real intent, these stores should offer quality but lower-priced goods like rice, and should help farmers find markets for their produce.”
“We will watch out for pronouncements about quality jobs. Millions remain without income or stable livelihood. Every SONA should usher in hope for employment opportunities and for decent wages for our workers,” giit ng senadora.
Sinabi pa ni Poe na patuloy nitong diringgin ang direktiba sa pagpapabilis ng mass transportation projects.
“We also have high hopes that the repairs on our airports and other critical infrastructures will no longer be hampered by delays,” aniya.
Kailangan din umanong malutas ang kakapusan ng kuryente sa Metro Manila at ilang lalawigan.
“We have authored bills for the grant of franchises to local power producers in some provinces. The development of our energy sector may take years, but officials should not grapple in the dark on how to do it,” aniya.
Gustong madinig din ni Poe sa SONA ang pagtugon sa kawalan ng malinaw at matibay na patakaran sa Pagbabawal ng Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) sa bansa.
“POGOs have spawned crimes, trafficking, and corruption. Let our revenues come from legal and legitimate sources,” giit niya.
Inaasahan din ni Poe na walang humpay ang ating proteksiyon at panggigiit ng ating Soberenya at teritoryo sa West Philippine Sea.
“It’s critical that all our statements and maritime activities should be in line with our historic legal victory in the Permanent Court of Arbitration. At the same time, we must continue to beef up our Coast Guard so it can be a reliable protector of our fishermen, our forces, and our resources at sea,” ayon kay Poe.
