Housing project sa New Clark City, popondohan ng South Korea

MANILA, Philippines – Target ng pamahalaan ng South Korea na pondohan ang planong 3,000-unit residential area sa loob ng New Clark City sa Tarlac.

Nitong Lunes, Oktubre 7 ay pumirma ang Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) ng nonbinding agreement sa state-owned Korea Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development Corporation (KIND) para magsagawa ng feasibility study ng proyekto.

Pinirmahan nina BCDA president at chief executive Joshua Bingcang, at KIND head of urban and property department Ryan Kwangbok Lee ang kasunduan sa sidelines ng Philippines-Korea Business Forum sa Manila Hotel.

Ani Bingcang, kung matutuloy ang proyekto matapos ang anim na buwang pag-aaral ay makakakuha ito ng P9 bilyong investment mula sa South Korean government.

“It will be contained first in a 5-hectare site in New Clark City. But in our master plan, there are numerous areas for mass housing of different typologies,” sinabi pa ni Bingcang.

“We intend to wrap up our negotiation by the end of the year and in fact, ground break within the end of the year,” dagdag pa.

Ang housing units ay iaalok sa mga empleyado ng pamahalaan at minimum wage earners, ngunit sinabi ng BCDA na may probisyon sa kasunduan na icoconvert ito bilang freehold, kung maipasa ang isang batas sa hinaharap na pumapayag sa ganitong setup.

Target umano ang buwanang lease rates na P5,000 hanggang P7,000 kada housing unit.

Bukod sa housing units, pumirma rin ng memorandum of understanding ang BCDA sa Korea-based firm RMS Platform para magsagawa ng pag-aaral sa pagtatayo ng smart city infrastructure sa loob ng New Clark City.

“A feasibility study will take a minimum of six months. And then if viable, they will come up with a proposal and then we’ll come up with a [public-private partnership] or a business model.” RNT/JGC
