NAGSIMULA nang magpadala ng tulong ang Field Office (FO) ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) sa Bicol Region para sa mga indibiduwal at pamilya na apektado ng Tropical Storm Kristine.
“Following the issuance of a forced evacuation order in the province of Albay, members of the DSWD’s Municipal Action Team in Region 5 were immediately deployed to assist in setting up modular tents and profiling of displaced families in evacuation centers located in the municipality of Jovellar,” ang sinabi ni DSWD Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao.
Maliban sa pagtulong sa evacuation centers, present din ang DSWD personnel sa pamamahagi ng hot meals sa mga stranded individuals sa iba’t ibang daungan sa Bicol Region.
Sa Tabaco Port, Albay, may 645 na stranded passengers ang nakatanggap ng hot breakfast meals na nagkakahalaga ng mahigit sa P63,000, sa pamamagitan ng tulong ng provincial government ng Catanduanes.
Samantala, mahigit naman sa 700 stranded individuals sa Matnog Port in Sorsogon province ang nabigyan ng breakfast packs na nagkakahalaga ng P30,000, sa pamamagitan ng tulong ng Local Government Unit ng Matnog.
Namahagi rin ang DSWD FO-5 ng packed hot meals na nagkakahalaga ng P17,406.60 sa 628 pasahero na stranded sa Pio Duran Port sa Albay province.
“In the Eastern Visayas Region, the DSWD Field Office-8 has activated its Quick Response Teams (QRT) to monitor the possible effects of Kristine in the region and assist in the immediate facilitation of disaster relief augmentation assistance, if needed,” ayon kay Dumlao, tagapagsalita rin ng DSWD.
Samantala, ang lahat ng kinauukulang DSWD FOs kasama ang track ng tropical storm ay naka-standby din para sa posibleng relief augmentation requests at iba pang uri ng tulong. Kris Jose
