MANILA, Philippines – Kinondena ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang pag-atake at pananambang nitong Sabado, Disyembre 21 sa Sulu provincial elections supervisor sa Zamboanga City na nagresulta sa pagkamatay ng kapatid ng opisyal.
“No words are enough to condemn this treacherous act of violence against our people,” pahayag ni Comelec Chair George Erwin Garcia.
“What is more gruesome and unforgivable is when a loved one is caught in the crossfire so to speak,” dagdag pa niya.
“We are not yet prepared to cry hopelessness but a call for immediate action from authorities is strongly demanded.”

Atty. Vidzfar Julie, 51, Sulu provincial elections supervisor, kasama ang kanyang asawa at kapatid na si Naser Amil Asiri, 57, nang mangyari ang pananambang.
Pauwi na sana ang mga ito mula sa paliparan nang tambangan bandang 10:30 ng umaga ng dalawang suspek sakay ng Honda Click motorcycle.
Hindi nasaktan si Julie ngunit nagtamo ng tama ng bala ng baril si Asiri na naging dahilan ng kamatayan nito.
“The entire Comelec family conveys our thoughts and prayers to Attorney Julie and family,” ayon pa sa Comelec.
“An attack against one of our election workers is an attack against democracy and will never be tolerated, and election-related violence shall not be the norm,” pagpapatuloy pa. RNT/JGC
