MANILA, Philippines – Inilipat na ng Bureau of Corrections ang 300 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) mula sa New Bilibid Prison (NBP) sa Muntinlupa City patungo sa Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm sa Palawan.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ng BuCor na nagdala ang kabuuang bilang ng mga PDL na inilipat mula NBP patungo sa ibang mga piitan at penal farms sa 10,227.
Ayon sa BuCor, ang nasa 300 PDLs ay mula sa medium security camp ng NBP.
“They were transferred as part of our effort to decongest NBP and to support the manpower needs of IPPF in its agricultural project,” sinabi ni BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr.
Ang mga PDL ay inescortan ng 100 correction officers sa tulong ng Philippine National Police (PNP) Muntinlupa, Highway Patrol Group, Philippine Coast Guard, at BuCor SWAT.
Dadalhin ang mga ito sa Port of Manila kung saan sila sasakay ng barko patungong Puerto Princesa City sa Palawan. RNT/JGC
