MANILA, Philippines – “Friend or the law? The President will still choose the law.”
Ito ang tugon ni Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary at Palace Press Officer Claire Castro sa press briefing sa Malakanyang bilang tugon sa sinabi ni dating presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo na ang reconciliation sa pagitan nina Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at mga Duterte ay nakabase sa magiging hakbang ng Chief Executive na pauwiin ang naka-detain na si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte pabalik ng Pilipinas.
Sinabi ni Castro na ang kahandaan ni Pangulong Marcos na makipagbati sa mga Duterte ay hindi aabot sa paglabag sa batas.
“The president will not allow himself to be controlled or dictated to when it comes to wrongdoing. He will not turn his back on or bend the law just to serve the personal interests of a few,” ang sinabi ni Castro.
“The President will not break the law just for the sake of reconciliation,” dagdag na pahayag nito.
Sa ulat, ang ‘reconciliation at political unity’ sa pagitan nina Pangulong Marcos at pamilya Duterte ay ‘ideal’ para sa bansa.
Sa isang panayam, sinabi ni Stratbase ADRI president Dindo Manhit na suportado nito ang pagiging bukas ni Pangulong Marcos na ayusin ang ugnayan sa mga Dutertes, magbibigay-daan ito sa liderayo ng bansa na ituon ang atensyon sa mahahalagang usapin lalo na sa external challenges.
“Of course,sa bayan natin mas magandang may unity because the greatest challenge is outside, the country’s challenges are external,” ang sinabi ni Manhit.
Aniya, ang reconciliation sa pagitan ng mga Marcos at Vice President Sara Duterte ay dapat na naka-angkla sa ‘accountability at good governance.’
“Sana the reconciliation or the unity of our political leaders is based on the core principles of accountability and truth and also respect of institutions,” aniya pa rin, tinukoy ang nagbabadyang paglilitis kay Vice President sa Senate impeachment court. Kris Jose
