MANILA, Philippines – Sinupalpal ng National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) ang Makabayan Bloc sa umano’y pananahimik ng grupo sa mga alegasyon ng sexual assault sangkot ang isang miyembro nito.
Sa pahayag nitong Linggo, Hunyo 8, sinabi ni NTF-ELCAC executive director Undersecretary Ernesto Torres Jr. na ang bigong pagkondena ng Makabayan sa umano’y rape ng dating miyembro ng party-list “exposes the deep hypocrisy and rot within their ranks.”
Inakusahan din nito ang grupo na inuuna ang sariling kapakanan bago ang pagsusulong ng katotohanan, hustisya, at kaligtasan ng vulnerable members.
“For a bloc that screams murder over even the slightest perceived injustice, the silence over one of their own being accused of rape is not just cowardly—it is unconscionable,” ani Torres.
Ang biktima na dating miyembro ng Kabataan, ay iniulat na nakaranas ng harassment at pang-aabuso mula sa party leader.
Kalaunan ay sinabi ng Kabataan na tinutugunan na nito ang isyu “internally” at nag-alok ng tulong sa biktima para maghain ng reklamo.
Sa kabila nito, sinabi ni Torres na ito ay bahagi na ng “playbook” long practice ng underground Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF), kung saan ang sexual abuse ay itinatago sa pamamagitan ng internal “rectification” o “criticism and self-criticism” processes.
“The mango does not fall far from the tree. The Kabataan Partylist’s response mirrors the same culture of silence and suppression that has long enabled rape and abuse in NPA units,” aniya.
Tinukoy din ng NTF-ELCAC ang report noong 2024 ng United Nations Secretary-General on Children and Armed Conflict, kung saan ginahasa umano ang 15-anyos na babae ng NPA fighter matapos siyang pwersahang isali sa guerrilla unit.
Ang insidente ay hindi umano isinapubliko ng grupo.
