MANILA, Philippines – Bilang bahagi ng suporta nito sa disaster response measures ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas, ang United States Indo-Pacific Command ay nagdeploy ng US Marine Corps at US Air Force V-22 Ospreys at MC-130J Hercules transport aircraft upang maghatid ng mga relief items sa mga komunidad na apektado ng malupit na panahon sa Northern Luzon.
Ayon sa US Embassy sa Manila nitong Huwebes, lumahok ang mga Osprey sa Armed Forces-led?airlift operations noong Hulyo 30 at 31 para ihatid ang 600 Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) family food packs at emergency relief items mula Clark Air Base patungong Basco, Batanes.
Ang mga operasyong ito upang tulungan ang mga komunidad na naapektuhan ng mga kamakailang tropical cyclone at ang Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) ay magpapatuloy sa mga susunod na araw, sinabi ng embahada.
“The United States stands shoulder to shoulder with our Filipino allies, especially in responding to disasters,” ayon kay US Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson.
”We are grateful to the combined relief and rescue teams who have been working tirelessly on the ground to deliver emergency assistance to affected residents,” dagdag niya.
Ang malakas na pag-ulan na dala ng gulo ng panahon ay nagdulot ng pagbaha at pagguho ng lupa sa Metro Manila at mga lalawigan sa ilang bahagi ng bansa. RNT/MND
