MANILA, Philippines – Naniniwala ang Lawyers for Commuters Safety and Protection (LCSP) na dapat isama ang mga mild hybrid electric vehicle sa mga exempted sa coding.
Ayon sa LCSP ang R.A. 11697, an act providing for the development of the electric vehicle industry, ay ang batas na sumusuporta sa paggamit ng electric vehicles.
Sinabi pa ng LCSP na isa sa mga non-fiscal incentives ay sa Section 25 ng batas.
Ayon pa sa LCSP exemption sa mandatory unified vehicular volume reduction program ng number coding scheme o iba pang kapareho na schemes na ipinatutupad ng MMDA at iba pang agencies ng LGUs.
“Exemption from the mandatory unified vehicular volume reduction program, number coding scheme or other similar schemes implemented by the MMDA, other similar agencies, LGUs,” ayon pa sa LCSP.
Sinabi pa ng LCSP na kapag ang electric motor “merely assists the gasoline engine or operates some of the vehicles functions like air conditioning, lights when engine is off.”
Tinanong pa ng LCSP kung bakit hindi exempted ang mga ito at kung hindi rin ba ito nagpo-promote ng paggamit ng alternatibo sa mga gasolina.
Naniniwala pa ang grupo na marahil ay hindi naman madami ang madaragdag na sasakyan kapag inexempt ito sa coding ay makadaragdag sa traffic. Santi Celario
