NAVOTAS City Rep. Toby Tiangco has urged the Committee on Appropriations to also publish on the House of Representatives’ official website the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) budget allocated to projects endorsed by party-list representatives.

“This is to ensure full transparency and prevent alleged fund manipulation schemes similar to those linked to ex-Ako Bicol representative Zaldy Co.

“Halimbawa, sa 2025 budget, ang daming project na in-insert ni Zaldy Co na hindi naman nire-request ng kinatawan ng distrito,” said Tiangco as he stressed that all funds must be traceable and publicly available.

“Mahalagang makita ng taumbayan kung sino ang proponent ng project para malinaw, at kung alam ba ito ng district representative para walang turuan kapag may problema na ang project,” he said.

Making these figures public would show that lawmakers have nothing to hide and that funds are properly distributed, the veteran Navotas legislator said.

First-ever business conference set

Mayor John Reynald Tiangco announced that the local government was all set to host a first-ever business conference in partnership with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI)–Navotas Chapter.

The two-day Navotas Business Conference 2025 will be held on October 28–29 at the Navotas Convention Center where business leaders, innovators, and stakeholders from across Metro Manila are expected to participate to explore opportunities for growth, sustainability, and collaboration.

Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. and inspirational speaker Bo Sanchez will headline the event alongside other distinguished guests from both government and industry.

It will feature discussions and exhibits that highlight innovation and growth opportunities in the fisheries, manufacturing, logistics, and tourism sectors.

15 Navoteño youth named new art scholars

Fifteen talented Navoteños were named as the newest beneficiaries of the NavotaAs Art Scholarship Program for school year 2025-2026, the city government said.

The student artists were chosen after a rigorous selection process conducted by screening committees across five disciplines—visual arts, music, dance, theater arts, and creative writing.

The program reaffirms the city’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded Navoteños who excel not only in academics but also in the arts.

“We continue to see the incredible creativity and determination of Navoteño youth. Each scholar represents the boundless potential of our city’s young generation.”

“We are committed to empower dreams and build a community that thrives on talent, passion, and purpose,” he added.
