MANILA, Philippines – Nanawagan ang Federation of Free Workers (FFW) sa Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) na magsagawa ng post-flood inspections sa workplaces na naapektuhan ng Bagyong Uwan upang masiguro ang kaligtasan, kalusugan, at pagsunod sa labor standards.
“When floods destroy homes and shut down a number of factories, inspection becomes a matter of life and dignity. Workers need protection, not just relief… Relief goods help families; inspections save lives—give both,” ani FFW president Atty. Sonny Matula.
Kasabay ito ng opisyal na bisa ng ILO Convention No. 81 on Labour Inspection sa Pilipinas. Binanggit ng FFW na tumataas ang panganib ng electrocution, exposure sa hazardous materials, at sakit sa mga factories at warehouses dahil sa baha.
Dapat din magbigay ng technical assistance ang inspections sa mga micro, small, at medium enterprises, kabilang ang on-site mentoring, praktikal na gabay, checklists, at referral para sa training o paglilinaw sa sahod. Ani Matula,
