MANILA, Philippines – Itinuring ng Department of National Defense (DND) at Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) nitong Lunes bilang “propaganda” ang apat na araw na unilateral ceasefire na idineklara ng Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
“The CPP statement should be taken as it is —a sad propaganda stunt of a terrorist organization,” ayon sa DND, na binigyang-diin na hindi susukuan ng gobyerno ang deklarasyon.
“Military duties are not subject to pause or seasons, thus the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) shall continue to support the Philippine National Police in keeping peace and order this holiday season.”
Iginiit din ng AFP na ipagpapatuloy ang kanilang operasyon.
“Military responsibilities are continuous and are not subject to unilateral pronouncements by armed groups… the AFP will continue lawful security operations to ensure peace and order and prevent armed groups from exploiting the situation to regroup, rearm, or threaten public safety,” anito.
Hinikayat ng DND ang natitirang miyembro ng New People’s Army na talikuran ang karahasan at bumalik sa ilalim ng batas. Inutusan ng CPP ang ceasefire na ipatupad sa Disyembre 25–26, 2025, at Disyembre 31, 2025–Enero 1, 2026, bilang paggunita sa ika-57 anibersaryo ng grupo. Dave Baluyot
