MANILA, Philippines – Ayon sa National Food Authority, nakapagpaluwag na sila ng espasyo sa bodega para sa fresh palay procurement matapos nilang ma-auction ang halos 90% ng lumang stocks noong Pebrero 20.
Nabanggit ni NFA Administrator Larry Lacson na naibenta ang 32.5 milyong kilo ng bigas sa average na P28 kada kilo.
“We are very pleased with the results, which allowed us to raise P936.5 million compared to the target amount of P912.4 million from the entire lot,” ani Lacson.
Ayon sa NFA, kasalukuyan nilang binabalidate ang mga bid documents bago pinal na pirmahan ang sale contracts.
Noong nakaraang auction, mahigit 700,000 sako ng bigas na nakaimbak mula tatlo hanggang labing-walong buwan ang naibenta.
“Of the 83 lots offered, NFA secured tenders for 57 lots, equivalent to 604,364 bags or 88% of the total volume. Thirty-nine bidders purchased bid documents, though only 19 are expected to secure contracts,” dagdag ng ahensya.
Ang maluwag na espasyo sa bodega ay gagamitin para sa palay mula sa lokal na magsasaka, na may minimum na presyo na P17 kada kilo para sa wet palay at P21 kada kilo para sa dry palay.
Inaasahan na aabot sa rurok ang dry harvest season mula Abril hanggang Mayo.
“With added liquidity and expanded storage capacity in the coming months, the NFA is positioning itself to step up market intervention as harvest season advances, aiming to support farmgate prices while keeping buffer stocks manageable,” dagdag ng NFA. RNT/MND
