MANILA, Philippines – Bilang bahagi ng impeachment proceeding at upang mapatunayan ang alegasyon ng unexplained wealth ay maaaring busisiin ng House of Representatives ang bank records ni Vice President Sara Duterte, ayon kay Deputy Speaker at La Union rep Paolo Ortega.
Ayon kay Ortega ang alegasyon sa ikaapat na impeachment ay nakasentro sa yaman ni VP Duterte na hindi isinama sa kanyang Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Networth(SALN) kaya nararapat na masilip ang bank records nito gayundin ang mga ari arian.
Ang ikaapat na impeachment ay inihain ni Atty Nathaniel Cabrera, sa kanyang reklamo ay hiniling nito na magpalabas ang Kamara ng subpoena sa bank records ni Duterte na sakop mula 2019 hanggang 2025, dapat din umanong makipagkoordina sa Commission on Audit (CoA), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) at Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC).
Dapat din magtatag ng independent forensic accounting team para mapagtugma ang SALN, bank at property records ni Duterte.
Iginiit nito na may kapangyarihan ang Kamara na magpalabas ng subpoena dahil mayroon itong constitutional investigatory powers sa isang impeachment proceedings gayundin ay pinahihintulutan na suriin ang bank records kung nag-iimbestiga ng bribery, unexplained wealth at corruption.
Kinatigan naman ito ni Ortega, aniya, mayroong constitutional investigatory powers ang Kamara na dapat nitong gamitin.
“If public officials are required to disclose all assets and live modestly, then any material omission is a serious constitutional concern that the House cannot ignore.”pahayag nito.
Nilinaw nito na ang impeachment ay isang process at hindi conviction.
“When there are sworn statements about large cash transfers and serious red flags in asset declarations, the House cannot look away,” paliwanag ni Ortega kung saan nilinaw nito na ang pagbusisi sa financial records ay hindi harassment bagkus ay isang constitutional duty.
