MANILA, Philippines – Nasa 480 Filipino sa Middle East ang nakatakdang ma-repatriate kasabay ng tumitinding tensyon sa pagitan ng Iran, at Estados Unidos at Israel, ayon sa Philippine Consulate in Dubai nitong Biyernes, Marso 13.
Ayon kay Consul General Ambrosio Brian Enciso III, ang mga repatriates ay binubuo ng 36 turista at 270 migrant workers na aalis sa Dubai sakay ng chartered flight.
“The capacity of the chartered flight is 480. From our side, more or less, we have 136. From the MIgrant Workers Office, there are more or less 270, because there are some who backed out. There will also be a contingent from Abu Dhabi, more or less 90,” ani Enciso.
Ayon sa Consul-General, ang mga repatriates na kabilang dito ay ang mga nagpahayag ng pagnanais na umuwi na sa Pilipinas.
Lilipad sila mula sa Dubai kasama ni Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac.
“It is a non-ticketed flight; we just need a manifest. The government paid the entire service —the charter service includes the plane and the bus that will take them from Dubai to Fujairah,” sinabi ni Enciso.
Ikinokonsidera ng pamahalaan ang pagkuha pa ng isang chartered flight “according to the demand.”
“There are other ways; it can be in small batches. We will get them tickets depending on the need but if there is a big group, the government is open to considering that,” sinabi ni Enciso.
Ito ang kauna-unahang repatriation ng mga Filipino sa Middle East sa pamamagitan ng chartered flight.
Nitong Miyerkules, inanunsyo ng DMW ang kabuuang 44 OFWs mula Israel at Dubai na ire-repatriate sa pamamagitan ng land travel patungong Egypt.
Mula Egypt ay sasakay ito ng flight patungong Oman bago bumyahe pauwi ng Pilipinas.
Noong Lunes ay mayroon namang 90 OFW ang umuwi sa Pilipinas mula UAE.
Nauna nang sinabi ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na nag-aayos na ng mga chartered flight ang pamahalaan sa repatriation ng mga Filipino sa kabila ng tensyon sa Middle East. RNT/JGC
