MANILA, Philippines – Hindi agad magpapababa sa presyo ng produktong petrolyo ang desisyon ng Iran na payagan ang Pilipinas na ligtas na makatawid sa Strait of Hormuz.
Sa Facebook post, sinabi ni Department of Energy Secretary Sharon Garin na ang Pilipinas ay nakakuha ng “a safe and preferential access” sa Strait of Hormuz, at sinabing ito ay makakapagpababa ng banta ng pagkaantala sa suplay ng langis, at magpapalakas ng proteksyon sa Philippine-linked cargo, at magpapabuti ng safety considerations para sa mga Filipino seafarer sa kabila ng nagpapatuloy na giyera ng US at Israel at Iran.
“This is Risk Management, because in a time of global tension, risk reduction is already a meaningful gain,” ani Garin.
“We also want to manage expectations: This development will not immediately bring down fuel prices, nor does it resolve our long-term structural challenges in energy. Those remain priorities that we continue to address,” dagdag pa niya.
Anang opisyal, ang mga tanong at pangamba sa lawak at epekto ng kasalukuyang arrangement ay “part of a healthy and informed public discourse.”
Ang Pilipinas ay binigyan ng ligtas na pagdaan sa Strait of Hormuz kasunod ng usapan sa telepono nina Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro at Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
Si Araghchi “had assured the Secretary that Iran will allow the safe, unhindered, and expeditious passage through the Strait of Hormuz of Philippine-flagged vessels, energy sources, and all Filipino seafarers,” ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs noong Huwebes.
