MANILA, Philippines – GUMUGOL na ang gobyerno ng Pilipinas ng P125.2 billion bilang tugon sa epekto ng krisis sa Gitnang Silangan.
Ito ang sinabi ni Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DepDev) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan sa isinagawang Senate Proactive Response and Oversight for Timely and Effective Crisis Strategy (Protect) Committee hearing.
“From the continuing 2025 appropriations, and the 2026 appropriations we could identify a P238 billion amount of resources for the intervention. Half of that has actually been released to the agencies as of April 1, that’s P125.2 billion,” ayon kay Balisacan, tinukoy ang report ng Department of Budget and Management.
Inisa-isa rin ni Balisacan ang nagpapatuloy na interbensyn ng national government kung saan nagamit ang pondo.
Para sa agriculture sector, kabilang dito ang fuel subsidy, financial assistance, at logistics support.
At para naman sa transport sector, kabilang dito ang fuel subsidies, cash aid, at pagbabawas sa mga bayarin.
Ang pondo ay ginamit din sa pagbili ng langis at electricity supply para sa energy sector, at repatriation at reintegration efforts para naman sa overseas Filipino workers.
Ayon kay Balisacan, ang natitirang P113.4 billion mula sa intervention fund ay maaaring i-cover sa nagpapatuloy na hakbang mula Abril hanggang Hunyo, subalit maaari rin itong ikalat ng manipis kung ang labanan sa Gitnang Silangan ay lumawig ng hanggang katapusan ng taon.
“The remaining part of that is P113.4 billion, if we look at these numbers, versus the first three months, April to June, I think we can safely cover the short-term measures as long as our approach is targeted,” ang winika ni Balisacan.
“If the tension in the Middle East will extend to the next six months, that is July to December the demand for resources will be much greater and we’ll have to figure out how to source that out,” ang babala nito.
Sa kabilang dako, base sa Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food and Transport Committee’s projections ng gobyerno, ang mga nabanggit na relief measures ay gagamit ng kabuuang P205.2 billion ng emergency funds.
Sa kabilang dako, ang kahalintulad na inisyatiba na may kabuuang P429 billion ay dapat na gamitin hanggang December 2026.
Samantala, ang Middle East crisis na nagsimula noong Pebrero 28 ang sanhi ng pagtaas ng presyo ng fuel sa bansa, sa gayon ay nakakaapekto sa iba pang kritikal na industriya. KRIS JOSE
