MANILA, Philippines – Kinumpirma ng Department of Justice (DOJ) nitong Huwebes na nagsampa ang Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) ng kasong obstruction of justice laban kay Sen. Robinhood Padilla kaugnay ng umano’y pagtulong sa “pag-eskapo” ni Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa sa Senado noong unang bahagi ng buwan.
Ayon kay Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon, una niyang sinabi na hindi pa natatanggap ng DOJ ang reklamo ngunit kalaunan ay kinumpirma na naisampa ito bandang bago mag-alas-5 ng hapon noong Mayo 28. “They came a little before 5 p.m. At the time we spoke (4 p.m.), they have (sic) not filed it yet,” aniya.
Sinabi ng DOJ na daraan sa evaluation ang reklamo alinsunod sa regular na proseso.
“As with any complaint filed before the Department, the same will be evaluated in accordance with established procedures and applicable rules,” ayon kay DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez. Dagdag pa niya, magsasagawa ng preliminary investigation kung kinakailangan.
“If the evidence warrants, the matter will be docketed for the conduct of a thorough preliminary investigation to determine whether prima facie evidence exists to charge the respondents in court,” ani Martinez.
Ang kaso ay kaugnay ng insidente noong Mayo 11 kung saan nagpakita si Dela Rosa sa Senado sa kabila ng arrest warrant ng International Criminal Court at kalaunan ay umalis ng gusali kasama si Padilla matapos ang tensyon sa loob ng kapulungan.
Si Dela Rosa, na umano’y nagtatago mula Nobyembre 2025, ay naunang humingi ng protective custody sa Senado at kalaunan ay nakita ring lumabas kasama si Padilla, na nagsabing sumabay lamang sa kanyang sasakyan ang senador. Jocelyn Tabangcura-Domenden
