MANILA, Philippines – Pinag-usapan nina Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio ang isyu ukol sa South China Sea at enerhiya sa telepono, araw ng Lunes.
Ang pag-uusap nina Pangulong Marcos ar Rubo ay matapos ang ilang araw na pagbisita ni State Undersecretary Jacob Helber sa Pilipinas.
Pinag-usapan din ng dalawang opisyal ang “a range of bilateral economic and security priorities, including efforts to advance peace and security in the South China Sea,” ayon naman sa kalatas ng Estados Unidos.
“The Secretary reaffirmed US commitment to developing the Luzon Economic Corridor and exploring ways to address the energy challenges in the region,” ayon pa rin sa kalatas.
“The Secretary emphasized the strength of the United States-Philippines Alliance and the continued close cooperation as the two countries commemorate 80 years of diplomatic relations and 75 years as Allies in 2026.” ang mababasa pa rin sa kalatas.
Matatandaang, taong 2024, kapuwa sinang-ayunan ng Estados Unidos at Japan na magbuhos ng bilyong dolyar para i-develop ang tinatawag na “Luzon Economic Corridor” matapos na si Pangulong Marcos, dating US President Joe Biden at dating Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishira ay dumalo sa trilateral meetings sa Washington.
