MANILA, Philippines — Muling magsisilbing Senate Minority Leader si Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano kasunod ng mga pagbabago sa liderato ng Senado.
Pormal itong inihayag sa plenaryo nitong Miyerkules ni Sen. Loren Legarda, na kabilang sa mga kaalyado ni Cayetano.
“On behalf of the minority, may I manifest for the record that Sen. Alan Peter S. Cayetano shall serve as the minority floor leader, likewise the minority members present here,” ani Legarda.
“This is without prejudice to the final resolution of the case currently pending before the Supreme Court. And this manifestation is to ensure the orderly discharge of the functions of the whole Senate as an institution and the minority during the pendency of said case,” dagdag niya.
Ang pahayag ay kasunod ng paghahain noong Martes ng siyam na senador na pinamumunuan ni Cayetano ng petisyon sa Korte Suprema upang ipawalang-bisa ang reorganisasyon ng Senado noong Hunyo 3, na isinagawa sa pagdalo ng 12 lamang sa 24 senador.
Sa naturang sesyon, nahalal si Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian bilang Senate president pro tempore at kalaunan ay ginampanan ang tungkulin bilang Senate president.
Pormal namang nakumpirma ang pagkahalal ni Gatchalian bilang Senate President sa isinagawang special session nitong Miyerkules na dinaluhan ng 13 senador.
Una nang nagsilbi si Cayetano bilang Senate Minority Leader mula 2010 hanggang 2013 at muling nahalal sa parehong posisyon noong Setyembre 2025 bago naging Senate President noong Mayo 11. RNT
