THE Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office under the effective stewardship of General Manager Mel Robles – a long-time and ever-reliable friend of yours truly – has been recognized anew as one of the country’s top-performing government-owned and controlled corporations, citing its substantial dividend remittance to the national government.
Humble as he is, GM Robles was quick to give the credit to the entire agency officials and personnel for their dedication and competence in their work as he welcomed the recognition given by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Finance Secretary Frederick Go during the GOCC Day held earlier this month.
Along with other GOCCs, Marcos and Go commended the PCSO for its outstanding financial performance and continued contributions to nation-building through higher dividend remittances.
“The PCSO will continue to fulfill its dual mandate of generating funds for charity while supporting the national government through dividend remittances.”
“The agency’s revenues from its gaming operations enable the ongoing implementation of various charitable programs, including medical assistance, donations of patient transport vehicles, institutional partnerships, corporate social responsibility initiatives, and other services benefiting millions of Filipinos nationwide,” said Robles, who personally received the recognition from the Chief Executive.
The PCSO’s inclusion among the country’s top dividend contributors reflects the agency’s commitment to sound fiscal management, transparency, and responsible governance while ensuring that its charitable mission remains at the forefront of its operations.
Earning a place among the Top 15 contributors, the PCSO said it has posted a remittance of P1.61 billion.
This year, Go said some 50 GOCCs collectively recorded a historic P147.15 billion in dividend remittances, representing a 29-percent increase from the previous year’s collection.
PCSO’s latest feat further underscores its continuing role not only as the government’s principal partner in providing medical and health-related assistance to Filipinos “but also as a reliable contributor to the national government’s revenue generation efforts, helping fund programs that promote inclusive growth and national development.”
“The PCSO remains steadfast in its commitment to serving the Filipino people, continuing its mission of bringing hope, compassion, and meaningful assistance to those in need,” Robles added.
