MANILA, Philippines — Iginiit ni National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag na katotohanan, ebidensya, at batas ang naging batayan ng kanyang naging testimonya sa impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte.
“You have to tell the truth. We seek justice… We are guided by justice, guided by the evidence, the rule of law, by the procedure. And, at the end of the day, from law enforcement, we want law and order,” aniya.
Si Matibag ang huling testigo ng House prosecution para sa Article IV, na may kaugnayan sa umano’y pagbabanta ni Duterte laban kina Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at iba pa.
Kaugnay ng mga kritisismo sa social media, sinabi ni Matibag na hindi hearsay ang kanyang testimonya dahil siya ang kasalukuyang tagapangalaga ng mga opisyal na rekord.
“It’s being alleged as hearsay but under the rule, this is an exception to the hearsay rule… I am now a custodian of the records… those are official records,” saad niya.
Samantala, sinabi rin ni Matibag na nakipagpulong siya kay Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida kaugnay ng mga kasong isasampa laban sa mga sangkot sa umano’y bentahan ng substandard na metal bars sa Pampanga.
Ayon sa NBI, ilan sa mga metal bars ay may hazardous materials at lumabas sa paunang imbestigasyon na ginamit ang mga ito sa gusaling gumuho sa Angeles City. Inaasahan ang mas kumpletong ulat sa mga susunod na araw. RNT/MDS
