MANILA, Philippines – Binigyang-diin ni House Prosecution panel spokesperson Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adion na ang pagbaba ng trust and performance rating ni Vice President Sara Duterte ay malinaw na indikasyon na masusing sinusubaybayan ng publiko ang nagpapatuloy na paglilitis sa Senado.
Sa pinakabagong OCTA Research Tugon ng Masa surve ay bumaba bang trust rating ni Duterte sa 47 porsyento ngayong Hulyo mula sa 55 porsyento noong Marso, habang ang performance rating naman nito ay lumagpak sa 45 porsyento mula sa naunang 50 porsyento.
“The latest survey simply suggests that as more information reaches the public, many Filipinos are reassessing their views. That is precisely why the impeachment trial exists to allow the evidence to be presented openly and fairly,” paliwanag nito.
Gayunpaman, mahigpit na nagbabala si Adiong na huwag gawing sukatan ng hatol o kawalan ng sala ang mga numerong lumabas sa survey.
Aniya, ang tanging nararapat na batayan ng hukuman ay ang mga matibay na ebidensyang ihaharap sa Impeachment Court.
“Neither high nor low survey numbers should determine the outcome of an impeachment case. The only basis for judgment must be the evidence presented before the Impeachment Court,” giit ni Adiong.
Ipinunto rin ng kongresista na nananatiling nakatuon ang panig ng prosekusyon sa pagpapatunay ng mga paratang sa pamamagitan ng mga dokumentaryong ebidensya, testimonya ng mga saksi, at mga nakatakdang alituntunin sa Konstitusyon.
“Our responsibility is not to influence surveys but to present facts. The Senate, sitting as an Impeachment Court, must decide the case based on the Constitution and the evidence not on public opinion,” giit pa nio.
Nanawagan si Adiong sa publiko na direktang saksihan at panoorin nang buo ang mga paglilitis sa halip na umasa lamang sa mga pinaikling bidyo o komentaryo sa social media upang maiwasan ang maling impormasyon.
“The best safeguard against misinformation is for our people to see the proceedings themselves. Let the evidence speak, and let every Filipino judge the facts with an open mind,” pagtatapos ni Adiong. Gail Mendoza
