MANILA, Philippines – KINILALA ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED) ang limang higher education institutions (HEIs) bilang bagong providers ng micro-credential courses para isulong ang ‘upskilling at reskilling opportunities’ sa bansa.
Ang Micro-credentials ay “short and focused learning courses” dinisenyo para i-develop at isertipika ang partikular na kaalaman, kasanayan, kahalagahan at kakayahan.
Nagbibigay ito ng flexibility sa mga mag-aaral na bumuo ng mga kakayahan sa pamamagitan ng credit o stackable, at non-credit o non-stackable approaches, “subject to quality standards and alignment with the Philippine Qualifications Framework.”
“By expanding access to shorter, targeted learning options, micro-credentials can help students build additional competencies alongside their degree programs and allow workers to upskill or reskill as industry needs change,” ayon sa komisyon.
Ang mga bagong kinikilalang HEIs ay ang St. Scholastica’s College Manila, World Citi Colleges, University of the Visayas, Saint Tonis College, Inc., at Brokenshire College, Inc.
Ang mga HEIs na ito ay sinuri ng Office of Programs and Standards Development ng CHED at ng Technical Working Group on Lifelong Learning at natuklasang sumusunod na may kinakailangang documentary at micro-credential requirements.
“In particular, Saint Tonis College, Inc. was granted recognition to offer 22 micro-credentials, covering short courses on information technology, programming, hospitality, culinary arts, teaching and learning, and professional skills,” ayon sa komisyon.
Pinapayagan naman ang 12 micro-credentials on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital marketing, e-commerce, workplace communication, at kaugnay na larangan na ipagkaloob sa World Citi Colleges.
Para sa University of the Visayas, 10 micro-credentials ang maaaring i-provide sa application at use cases, data analytics, data engineering, data science, machine learning, at platform administration.
May anim na micro-credentials sa turismo, hospitality, events management, recreation, food entrepreneurship, at culinary sustainability na maaaring ialok sa St. Scholastica’s College Manila.
Nakakuha din ang Brokenshire College, Inc. nang pag-apruba na mag-alok ng limang micro-credentials, covering cultural at literacy appreciation at specialized healthcare competencies, kabilang na ang phlebotomy at malarial microscopy.
“These course offerings are seen to respond to workforce demand in cybersecurity, data analytics, hospitality, tourism, entrepreneurship, healthcare, and education,” ayon pa rin sa CHED.
Samantala, ang limang HEIs na inaprubahan para sa micro-credentials ay balido sa loob ng tatlong taon.
Sa ngayon, ang kabuuang bilang ng mga kinilalang HEIs para sa micro-credential offerings ay tumaas sa 12. KRIS JOSE
