“The Nay Pyi Taw program included a symbolic handover of a reconstructed monastery in Pyinmana Township, where Secretary Lazaro also handed over religious robes and sacks of rice during the handover as a gesture of respect for Buddhist tradition and the community for whom the monastery has long served as a place of worship and for community gathering,” saad sa pahayag ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
“The Secretary also visited and distributed school kits to the children in a prefabricated school building in Tha Pyay Pin Village. Both projects form part of the Philippines’ humanitarian assistance to Myanmar, coursed through the AHA Centre, to support the rebuilding of communities affected by the earthquake in 2025,” dagdag pa.
“Over seven decades, friendly relations between the Philippines and Myanmar have grown not only through official exchanges, but also through people-to-people ties. The humanitarian mission builds on this longstanding relationship connection while carrying forward the Philippines’ responsibilities as ASEAN Chair in 2026,” ayon sa DFA.
“Building on her earlier field visit to Taunggyi, Shan State, Secretary Lazaro will conclude her substantive engagements in Yangon through consultations with ASEAN Embassies,” dagdag pa. RNT/JGC
