ACOSTA HAILED AS WOMAN WHO EXCELS IN PUBLIC SERVICE

PUBLIC Attorney’s Office chief, Atty. Persida Rueda-Acosta, has been recognized by two award-giving bodies including the Crystal International Women Award for being a woman who excels in public service.

Known for being the country’s top defender of millions of indigent Filipinos, Acosta emerged as the top awardee for her ‘Leadership Excellence in Delivering Proficient Legal Services’ which was handed over by the international award-giving body recently at Okada Manila in Parañaque City.

Getting more inspired to serve the people even before her term ends as chief public attorney owing to the overwhelming support she gets from the various sectors of society, she shared the recognition with the entire PAO officials and employees particularly the public attorneys assigned all over the country.

She, however, declined to elaborate on her future plans despite calls from many sectors for her to run for a Senate post in the 2025 midterm elections.

Nonetheless, she welcomed a recent initial survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations that made her as one of the top picks for the senatorial race. The same SWS national survey showed overall that 82 percent of Filipinos were aware of her and trusted her.

She cited the women’s key role in public service that used to be dominated by their male counterparts.

“Womanhood is not just a state of being. Womanhood is also a journey of becoming – of discovering one’s talents, gifting, life purpose and identity. And from these realizations, come the appreciation of the positive changes we can uniquely make as a woman.”

“It’s Women’s Month and it’s women power. We are like soldiers, the more we get wounded, the more we have become braver in fighting the rights of our fellowmen and our beloved country as a whole,” she added.

The PAO chief also accepted the ‘Babae ka Awards’ from the Gawad Pilipino Award led by its top organizer Dr. Danilo Mangahas held at the Armed Forces of the Philippines in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
