MANILA, Philippines – Sinentensyahan ng 30 taong pagkabilanggo ng korte sa Aubrey, Texas ang isang Amerikanong sex offender dahil sa kaso ng child exploitation sangkot ang mga menor de edad sa Pilipinas.
Tinawag ang desisyong ito ng Philippine National Police (PNP) bilang isang “breakthrough” sa cross-border work nito kasama ang Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Sa pahayag nitong Sabado, Nobyembre 22, sinabi ng PNP na napag-alamang ang 65-anyos na Amerikano ay nagbabayad ng mga babae sa Pilipinas para mag-produce ng explicit materials.
Gumagastos anang PNP ang suspek ng mahigit $8,000 mula 2015 hanggang 2021 para sa illegal materials, na ipinadadala sa pamamagitan ng direct messaging at livestreaming session.
“The case stands as one of the most notable demonstrations of coordinated law enforcement action” sa pagitan ng PNP at FBI.
“PNP breakthrough emerged from proactive” investigation ng Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) ng Women and Children Protection Center–Mindanao Field Unit (WCPC-MFU) nito.
Kasunod ng implementasyon ng search warrant noong 2023, narekober ng PNP ang mga cellphone na naglalaman ng materyales sa Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental.
Nagresulta ang operasyon sa pagkakaaresto ng dalawang facilitators, pagkakasagip sa mga biktima, a “essential evidence that connected the offender abroad to the exploitation committed in the Philippines.”
Inilarawan ng PNP ang palitan ng intelligence nito sa FBI bilang “seamless.”
“The successful conviction in the U.S. affirms that offenders who exploit Filipino children will face justice, wherever they may be… Our collaboration with the FBI demonstrates our enduring commitment to protect vulnerable children and dismantle criminal structures that prey on them. The PNP will continue pushing forward until every child is safe from online exploitation,” pagbabahagi ni PNP acting chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Nartatez Jr.
Para naman kay PNP Spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño, “This result highlights how collective action across borders strengthens the fight against online exploitation. Our ongoing coordination with the FBI ensured that Philippine-sourced evidence played a decisive role in the prosecution.” RNT/JGC
