MANILA, Philippines – Iniulat ang ashfall at amoy ng sulfur matapos ang ash emission na nangyari mula sa Bulkang Kanlaon nitong Sabado, Pebrero 15.
Sa Facebook post, sinabi ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) na ang ash emission event ay nangyari 2:32 ng hapon at tumagal ng walong minuto.
Naglabas din ito ng plume na umabot sa 1,500 metro ang taas sa crater.
Naitala ang ashfall at sulfurous smell sa mga sumusunod na lugar sa Bago City, Negros Occidental:
Brgy. Mailum (Purok Lunao, Kakapihan I and II, Kamotihan I and II, Kalubihan II, Kasagingan, Kapahuan, Katubuhan at Rakel, Pili, Durar-og, Abacca, Humayan, Esperanza, Kawayanan, Tabidiao I at II)
Brgy. Maao (Proper, Pandan)
Brgy. Binubuhan (Purok Waterlily)
Brgy. Abuanan (Purok Rose)
Brgy. Dulao (Purok Reola)
Brgy. Atipuluan (Purok Paglaum, Pagsilak, Riverside, Masinadyahon, Mainuswagon)
Brgy. Ilijan (Purok Malungay B)
Naamoy din ang sulfur sa Brgy. Bacong, Bago City.
Sinabi ng Phivolcs na, “SO2 [sulfur dioxide] flux was measured today at an average of 2,625 tonnes/day, less than the medium term average since 03 June 2024 of 4,440 tonnes/day, while degassing from the summit crater has been weak since 6 February 2025.”
