GERMANY – Nais ng US ng “an even more invested and enduring relationship” sa Pilipinas, sinabi ng Department of State nitong Sabado, Pebrero 15.
Ito ay kasunod ng pagpupulong nina Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo at US State Secretary Marco Rubio sa Munich, Germany.
Nagkita sina Manalo at Rubio sa Munich Security Conference, isang taunang meeting sa Germany patungkol sa international security issues.
“Secretary Rubio not only reaffirmed US commitment to the United States-Philippines Alliance, but noted his enthusiasm for building an even more invested and enduring relationship,” saad sa pahayag ni department spokesperon Tammy Bruce.
Ang pagpupulong ay kasunod ng pag-freeze ng US foreign aid na naka-apekto sa government at civil society programs, partikular na ang HIV at AIDS, sa Pilipinas.
Sa kabila nito, siniguro ng US ang “ironclad commitment” nito sa Pilipinas.
Hindi mababago ang defense treaty at visiting forces agreement, dagdag pa.
Ani Bruce, pinag-usapan din nina Manalo at Rubio ang pagtutulungan “on addressing China’s destabilizing actions in the South China Sea” maging ang pagpapalakas sa economic cooperation sa infrastructure, minerals, IT at energy. RNT/JGC
