MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ng Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) na maaaring maikonsidera ang kaso ng pagkalunod ng Ateneo de Manila University men’s basketball players na sina Rene Baterbonia at Divine Adili bilang homicide o hazing.
Ayon kay CIDG Director Maj. Gen. Robert Morico II, patuloy pa ang imbestigasyon at kinakausap pa nila ang mga players upang matukoy ang tunay na pangyayari.
“This investigation is now turned into a possible homicide investigation or hazing investigation… It depends doon sa ongoing na interview namin na cino-conduct sa mga players,” ani Morico.
Ipinaliwanag din niya na saklaw ng Anti-Hazing Act of 2018 hindi lang ang fraternities o police academies, kundi pati ibang organisasyon at mga requirement para sa patuloy na membership.
“Ang Anti-Hazing Act of 2018 applies not only sa mga fraternities, sa academies, sa mga organizations such as police trainings; it also applies to any organization or a requirement for continuing membership,” dagdag niya.
Ayon pa sa CIDG, kabilang sa posibleng hazing practices ang forced calisthenics, exposure sa matinding panahon, at iba pang brutal na pisikal na aktibidad.
“Among the possible ano nito is the forced calisthenics, exposure to the weather, or any other brutal treatment or forced physical activity,” sabi niya. RNT/MND
