ILOILO CITY, Philippines- Biglang isinara ang Iloilo International Airport sa bayan ng Cabatuan sa Iloilo nitong Linggo ng umaga, para sa emergency repairs sa runway nito, na nakaantala sa mga flight papunta at palabas ng airport, itinuturing na isa sa main gateways ng Western Visayas.
Sinabi ni Iloilo Airport Terminal supervisor Art Parreño na kritikal ang maintenance upang tugunan ang mga isyu sa runway at tiyaking lahat ng flight ay ligtas.
Ani Parreño, nagpalabas ng Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) ng alas-7 ng umaga na magsasagawa ang Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Iloilo airport office ng runway repair sa isang maliit na pothole.
Aniya, pagsapit ng alas-11 ng umaga, kinalos na ang NOTAM.
“This situation caused significant dismay and inconvenience to passengers traveling to and from various destinations across the country,” pahayag ni loilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, chairperson ng Infrastructure Development Committee ng Regional Development Council in Western Visayas.
“Ilonggos deserve better. The airport is a critical gateway that impacts not only our connectivity but also our local economy and reputation. Any disruption of this magnitude must be addressed promptly and transparently. I will ensure that accountability is upheld and that measures are implemented to prevent such incidents from happening again,” dagdag niya. RNT/SA
