MANILA, Philippines – Nagpaabot ng tulong ang Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office-Davao Region (FO-11) sa mga pamilyang inilikas dahil sa mga pagbaha dulot ng malalakas na pag-ulan dahil sa intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).
“We received reports from our Davao Field Office of several incidents of flooding in Davao Occidental. As of today, we have extended 887 family food packs (FFPs) worth PHP541,070 to the affected localities for distribution to their affected constituents,” pahayag ni Assistant Secretary for Disaster Response Management Group Irene Dumlao nitong Sabado, Disyembre 28.
Iniulat ng DSWD spokesperson na nananatiling nakikipag-ugnayan ang DSWD FO-11 sa local government units (LGUs) na may bukas na open evacuation centers.
“Currently, some 739 families or 3,158 individuals are staying in five evacuation centers in Davao Occidental. We are checking with the LGUs if they need additional food and non-food items for the displaced residents. Our regional office has 157,339 FFPs and standby funds available for augmentation if the need arises,” ani Dumlao.
Sa Region 12 (Soccsksargen) kung saan nakakaapekto rin ang ITCZ sa Sarangani and Sultan Kudarat, nagsimula nang makipag-ugnayan ang DSWD sa mga LGU para sa pagpapaabot ng tulong.
Sa ulat kay DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, sinabi ni Regional Director Loreto Cabaya Jr. na inisyal na nagpaabot ng tulong ang FO ng P86,000 sa relief aid sa mga residente ng Alabel, Sarangani.
Iniulat ni Cabaya na mayroong 400 pamilya o 1,600 indibidwal ang tumutuloy sa mga evacuation center sa
General Santos City, at Alabel at Glan sa Sarangani.
