MANILA, Philippines – Nakapag-uwi ang biyahe ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa Japan ng P56.3 bilyong halaga ng investments para sa mga Filipino, ayon sa Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) nitong Biyernes, Mayo 29.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ng DTI na ang investments ay nagmula sa Furukawa Electric Co., Sumitomo Electric Co., MinebeaMitsumi Inc., at Tsuneishi Group Corporation.
Ang Furukawa at MinebeaMitsumi ay gumagawa ng components para sa data centers.
Samantala, ang Sumitomo ay magtatayo ng bagong pabrika sa Cabuyao, Laguna, para gumawa ng mga component para sa smartphones, automotive electronics, telecommunications equipment, medical devices, at wearable technology.
Magkakaroon ng lawak na 4,706 square meters ang pabrika ng Sumitomo at magsisimula ang operasyon sa Abril 2027.
Ang investment pa lamang ng Sumitomo ay nagkakahalaga na ng P4.3 bilyon.
Sinabi ni Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque na ang proyekto ay susuporta sa plano ng Pilipinas na pataasin ang semiconductor at electronics exports sa $110 bilyon pagsapit ng 2030 at palawakin ang paglahok ng bansa sa higher-value manufacturing at electronics supply chains.
“This expansion will help create more quality employment opportunities for Filipinos while upgrading local capabilities in cutting-edge electronics manufacturing and precision industrial technologies. Sumitomo Electric’s continued partnership in supporting the Philippines’ industrial transformation and long-term export competitiveness,” dagdag ni Roque.
Ang Tsuneishi Group naman ay magtatayo ng dry dock at production buildings para palakasin ang shipbuilding operations nito sa Cebu.
“Tsuneishi’s operations in Cebu have helped transform Balamban into one of the country’s leading shipbuilding and industrial hubs, creating thousands of jobs and opportunities for Filipino workers and local communities,” sinabi ni Secretary Roque.
Ang kompanya ay nag-ooperate na sa Pilipinas mula noong 1990s at ngayon ay nag-ooperate bilang isa sa pinakamalaking shipbuilding facilities sa bansa na matatagpuan sa Balamban, Cebu, at sumusuporta sa mahigit 12,000 trabaho.
“The projects secured during the President’s State Visit will translate into more jobs, stronger manufacturing capabilities, and greater participation of Filipino enterprises in global value chains. This also highlights the Philippines’ growing role as a strategic hub for advanced manufacturing, AI, electronics, and industrial production in the region,” ani Roque.
